I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know that we did, and I am still full today! The next couple posts will be various recipes that I made on Thanksgiving and I am starting with one of my favorite cool weather drinks, warm spiced cider. This drink just screams fall and I thought it would be perfect to have a batch simmering in the crockpot all day for Thanksgiving. This cider is fantastic as is, but for an extra special treat, top with fresh whipped cream and cinnamon or drizzle with caramel.
Spiced Apple Cider
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 1 1/2 C orange juice
- 1/2 C brown sugar
- 6 cinnamon sicks
- 12 whole cloves
- 12 whole allspice
Mix together above ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Simmer at least 30 minutes on the stove-top. Transfer to a crockpot and set on low, stirring occasionally. Serve with fresh whipped cream, cinnamon and caramel sauce.

I always cheat and use a spice packet for my cider, so I LOVE that you made it yourself! It looks so delicious!
Your photo looks like it should be on a coffee house website!
It looks delicious!
It’s funny, I was just thinking the other day how I know how to make hot chocolate from scratch, but I was wondering how to make apple cider!
