I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for new side dish ideas. This recipe is a great way to take fresh green beans and kick them up a bit. Instead of simply steaming or boiling them, the green beans are caramelized with garlic and mixed with buttery pine nuts. These do take a bit longer to prepare, as you need to allow time for the green beans to caramelize, but to me, the taste is worth it.
Caramelized Green Beans with Pine Nuts
- 3/4 tablespoon butter
- 3/4 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 1/2 pounds green beans, stem ends removed
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons pine nuts
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
