2010 Favorites

by Melissa on December 31, 2010

I have seen a ton of great year-end reviews on many of my favorite blogs this year! I have seen both most popular posts, and the blog writers favorites. Instead of just doing one or the other, I decided to do both!

First up, the 5 most popular posts on Made in Melissa’s Kitchen as chosen by the people who read it! It was busy year for my little blog, including a complete blog redesign, as well as moving to my own domain!

# 5 Sweet & Sour Chicken: You guys really love your sweets, as this is the only savory item in the top 5! It is there for good reason, as this is a delicious and easy dinner. Definitely a regular on our menu!

#4 Kit Kat Candy Cake: The easiest cake I have ever decorated! Seriously, everyone loves this cake and you can make this without any cake decorating equipment or experience! Be careful though, more than one person mistook this cake for a bowl of M&M’s and dug right in!

#3 Pumpkin Cake Truffles: A fun, fall twist on the classic cake truffles. Cake truffles made with pumpkin cake, dipped in white chocolate and drizzled with butterscotch. These will definitely be making an appearance next fall!

#2 Pumpkin Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Buttercream: Another pumpkin recipe! These pumpkin cupcakes are definitely in my top 5 of favorite cupcakes and the salted caramel buttercream is quite possibly the best buttercream ever!

#1 Death by Chocolate Trifle: This is consistently my most popular post, and for good reason! This trifle is one of my go-to desserts for potlucks and other get-togethers. The rich, chocolatey combination of brownies, mousse, whipped cream and heath bars is always a huge hit!

2010 was a busy year for me! We had our ups and downs, as most people do, but the best moment was definitely the birth of my son back in April. Here are my top 5 favorite posts from 2010. In no particular order, as  I had a hard enough time just narrowing down the posts!

Stove-Top Mac-n-Cheese: I am  still on the quest to find the perfect baked mac and cheese, but this recipe for the stove-top version is hands down my favorite! This was a very popular recipe in the blog world this year, but if you still have not tried it, don’t wait any longer!

Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting: These cupcakes, along with the pumpkin cupcakes mentioned above, were my favorite sweet treats of the year!

Molten Lava Cakes: I had some trouble narrowing down my choices, so I let my husband pick one and this was his choice! I made this rich, gooey mini cakes for Valentines Day this year and they were the perfect dessert. I have a feeling I will be making them again in 2011.

Crostini with Sun-Dried Tomato Jam: When I made these crostini, I actually debated whether I would like them or not. I am so glad my urge to try new things won out, as these were one of my favorite appetizers this year! These little crostinis are full of flavor and perfect for entertaining.

Baked Fontina: Another appetizer! I couldn’t not include this baked fontina in a round-up of my favorite posts from this year. I first made in November and I think I have recommended this recipe more than any other to all of my friends and family!

Thank you for reading and for all of your wonderful comments and e-mails! I wish you all a safe and happy New Year!
